🍲 Lentil Shawarma Soup Recipe

This isn’t just soup. It’s a shawarma-inspired, spice-loaded bowl of soul-soothing lentils simmered with warming notes of cumin, paprika, and our signature Spice Souk Shawarma Blend. One pot. Maximum comfort. Minimum effort.

2 tbsp Spice Souk Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 small yellow onion, finely diced
-
1 carrot, diced
-
1 small potato, diced
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 cup red lentils, rinsed
-
6 cups chicken broth (or water + bouillon)
-
1 tbsp Spice Souk Shawarma Blend
-
½ tsp Spice Souk Cumin
-
ÂĽ tsp Spice Souk Turmeric
-
Salt & black pepper to taste

Juice of 1 lemon
-
Optional protein: 1 cooked, shredded chicken breast or thigh

Optional topping: Greek yogurt or tahini drizzle, chili oil, or crispy chickpeas
🔥 Instructions:

Sauté the Base
Heat olive oil in a large pot. Add onions, carrots, and potatoes. Cook for 5 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook 1 more minute. -
Spice It Up
Add lentils and all spices: shawarma blend, cumin, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat the veggies and toast the spices slightly. -
Simmer Time
Add broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until lentils and veggies are soft. -
Blend or Leave Rustic
Blend fully for a creamy soup, or leave it slightly chunky for more texture. Your choice! -
Add Protein (Optional)
Stir in shredded chicken if using, and let it warm through. -
Serve & Finish
Add lemon juice just before serving. Top with a swirl of yogurt or tahini, a drizzle of chili oil, or fresh herbs. Serve hot with pita or rice.
