Share
This one’s for when you want your kitchen to smell like a bakery in Jerusalem. Soft, chewy flatbread with golden edges, slathered in olive oil and Spice Souk Za’atar? Say less.
What You Need
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
¾ cup warm water
-
1 tsp yeast
-
½ tsp salt
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
Za’atar + more olive oil for topping
What You Do
-
Mix yeast with warm water and let it get foamy (5–10 minutes).
-
Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix and knead into a soft dough.
-
Let it rise for an hour until it puffs up.
-
Divide into 2–3 balls. Roll 'em out into rounds or ovals—whatever your mood.
-
Brush with olive oil and generously sprinkle that za’atar like you mean it.
-
Bake at 450°F (230°C) for 7–10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Eat it hot. Dip it in hummus. Use it as pizza crust. Or tear it straight from the tray and don’t even pretend to share.
